After GSP shocked everyone by losing the title to Serra, he was put in a match against Josh Koscheck at UFC74. Koscheck, a 4-time Division 1 NCAA All-American & 1-time NCAA wrestling champion, was thought to have a major advantage over GSP in terms of wrestling and the ground game. It didn't turn out to be the case as GSP won an unanimous decision by scoring in takedowns, stopping Kos's takedowns and basically controlling him on the ground. So after all, who is the better wrestler?

cant wait to see gsp at ufc79
Maybe I really dislike Kos but I was happy to see GSP kick his ass
btw this site is awesome! glad I got here, bookmarked it. Keep up the good work k3six
GSP is a much better wrestler, most people know him for striker, but he is actually a very underrated wrestlet
GSP and Hughes are the best wrestlers in their division and we will see who is no 1 after UFC79
Kos is the better wrestler. He would beat GSP in a straight up wrestling match. However, in MMA his skillset isn't diverse enough to really set up his takedowns. Also, in the GSP fight he had to worry about the far superior striking of GSP. In short, Kos is the better wrestler but GSP is by far the better fighter.
if Kos is the better wrestler then GSP wouldnt be able to control him on the ground like that.
I see what you mean by Kos having to worry about other MMA skills of GSP but if you are a good/better wrestler, you should not be controlled like that when the fight hits the ground.
gsp is just an underrated wrestler IMO and this is because his superior striking overshadows his other skills
In a pure wrestling match Koscheck would likely win. However that means nothing if you can't work it as good in MMA.
